Metro Transit in St. Louis once again led the nation with the largest increase in bus ridership among large transit agencies. According to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), Metro Transit saw an 8.55% increase in bus ridership from January to September of this year. MetroBus recorded 22 million boardings as compared to 20.3 million MetroBus boardings during the first three quarters in 2011. "

Things that go away when public transit is free
At least 1 injured, many trapped in Miami parking garage collapse - latimes.com: "More than 100 rescuers on Wednesday rushed to the scene of a partially-built parking garage that collapsed on the campus of a Miami school, trapping workers inside, officials said."
A parking space can cost from 40,000 to 100,000 dollars, just for initial capital cost. What if this money was put into free buses? Then we could have parks instead of ugly parking high rises.
